Join LOV Inc. as a volunteer and support our mission to unite people with developmental disabilities to engage and build their best lives. By volunteering at LOV Inc., you’ll be supporting individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) and their families and making our community a better and more inclusive place. Having served the community for over 16 years, LOV Inc. advocates for self-determination, integration, and connection. When you volunteer with LOV Inc., you actively live out values of inclusion and anti-ableism. Our community is kind and welcoming. We’d be so glad to have you join us!
“Volunteering with LOV Inc. has been such an enriching experience that allows me to make a personal and positive impact on the people in my community! I love fostering relationships with families and individuals with developmental disabilities as it allows me to play a role in reducing community isolation and promoting a stronger sense of community in Madison and the central Wisconsin area!”

Volunteer Roles
We have a variety of volunteer roles that we are regularly looking to fill. Most often, we seek volunteers to help facilitate social and educational events for individuals with I/DD and their families. Some of our events are for adults age 16+ with I/DD, while others support children with I/DD in the Ho-Chunk and Latino communities.
Volunteer roles include:
- Event Volunteer: Assist with event set-up, facilitation, member connections, and clean-up.
- LOV Ambassador: Welcome new individuals and families, share LOV offerings, and collect event feedback.
- Interest Group Volunteer: Attend recurring Interest Group gatherings to provide ongoing support for Bridge Builder members.
- Family Navigator Project Event Volunteer: Support weekend events for individuals age 2+, while families and caregivers have time for connection and education.

“Volunteering with the Tribal Family Navigator Project has allowed me to contribute my skills in supporting local Ho-Chunk families. I’ve made precious, solid relationships that continue to grow with each event, and I’m proud to be part of a community that fosters empowerment and cultural pride.”

Volunteer Background Check Policy
The safety and well-being of LOV Inc. members is our top priority. Volunteers may be screened through a background check and may be asked to provide references. Volunteers must not be on the Wisconsin Department of Corrections (WISDOC) Sex Offender Registry, or have a record of violent crimes or crimes against vulnerable populations. Names are checked using Wisconsin Court System Circuit Court Access Simple Case Search (CCAP). Additionally, volunteers who are new residents to the State of Wisconsin may be checked in their previous state of residence.
